ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY EXPERIENCE SHARING BETWEEN QUYHOA NATIONAL LEPROSY - DERMATOLOGY HOSPITALAND NEW ZEALAND - VIETNAM HEALTH TRUST
Under the cooperation program between New Zealand - Vietnam Health Trust and Binhdinh healthcare facilities, from April 2nd- 4th 2018, Quyhoa National Leprosy - Dermatology Hospital (QuyhoaNDH) staffs and New Zealand delegation together performedjoint replacement surgery, arthroscopy, and provided physiotherapy for patients having joint diseases. New Zealand delegation includes experienced orthopedic surgeons and physiotherapist.
During 03 working days, QuyhoaNDHstaffs and New Zealand experts shared experiences through such activities: consulting about musculoskeletal disorders for 35 patients; performing ACL and PCL reconstruction surgery and arthroscopy for 07 patients, TKR surgery for 05 patients, shoulder arthroscopy and decompression surgery for 02 patients, distal radius fracture surgery for 01 patient. All operated patients recovered well with no medical complications. In addition, Mrs. Jayne Dickison, the physiotherapist, also provided early physiotherapy for all post - op patients.
The cooperation and exchanges of experience in advanced surgery likejoint replacement and arthroscopy between New Zealand - Vietnam Health Trust and QuyhoaNDH have contributed to improving the capacity of QuyhoaNDH staffs towards standardizationof surgical procedures, physiotherapy and post - op care.In addition, the patients having joint diseases are treated well andprovided physiotherapy, which helps them recover soon and come back their daily activities. QuyhoaNDH highly appreciates valuable contributions from the delegation in particular and New Zealand - Vietnam Health Trust in general and hopes to develop this cooperation to improve the capacity of QuyhoaNDH staffs and international integration.
